I am a board certified Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner who graduated from Walden University. Prior to becoming a Nurse Practitioner, I had 20 years of experience as a Registered Nurse with 13 of those years working in mental health. I have experience working with children ages 4-11 years; adolescents ages 12-17 years; and adults ages 18-65+ years. I am a Major in the United States Army Reserve, Army Nurses Corps with an area of concentration as a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse. With my military experience comes a real passion for working with military members and veterans with PTSD, TBI, and other mental health issues.
During my career I have been able to explore the use and effectiveness of complementary and alternative modalities (CAM) to treatment such as acupuncture, biofeedback, and reiki – just to name a few. CAM has since become a passion and in 2013, I became trained and certified as a Master Usui Reiki practitioner. As a Nurse Practitioner I hope to expand my knowledge and practice with complementary and alternative modalities.
In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my family, cooking, bowling, traveling, camping, and hiking with my best pal, my dog Odin.
